Copperfest 2007
24 a 25 August 2007 - Copperfest organisers were jubilant at the reaction to their mix of music and fun. Festival organisers said 'It was amazing to look out from the stage and see so many people just going for it, in the lights it we could just see a sea of smiling faces.
When the we decided to organise the festival, we just saw a chance to have a huge party, get people into Amlwch and have a huge load of fun'. By Saturday night estimates put the crowds at 1500. Far more than had been anticipated, and well over 2000 total for the weekend.
Saturday night saw a raucous set by local heroes Celt round off a weekend that had seen everything from The Banjo Brothers to up and coming cult Welsh rockers Frizbee,. Baloo's Band where back to their best, playing a mix of R 'n' B and blues. Organisers commented, 'we wanted to make this a festival for everyone, we wanted all the people that came to listen to something they really liked, whether a fan of English or Welsh language music, young or old'. Intended as a fund-raiser for next years Viking Festival it now seems this may become an annual event in its own right with organisers promising to consider the flood of requests from local people to do it all again next year.
